Emily joins “Murder Mystery”

THR is reporting that Colin Firth, Adam Sandler and Emily joined “Murder Mystery” with Charlize Theron already attached.

Oscar winner Colin Firth, comedy champ Adam Sandler and Looper star Emily Blunt are set to join Charlize Theron in Murder Mystery, a comedy whodunit from director John Madden, the British helmer of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Shakespeare in Love.

The plot of the Murder Mystery, from a script by White House Down writer James Vanderbilt, has a pair of American newlyweds visiting Europe on their honeymoon who get implicated in a murder they witnessed.

Endgame Entertainment and Tower Hill are behind the project, which had originally been set up at Disney and which Tower Hill picked up in turnaround. Kevin McDonald had initially been attached as director.

Theron will also produce Murder Mystery via her Denver and Delilah Productions shingle, joining Endgame’s James D. Stern and Tower Hill’s William Shively together with Tripp Vinson, Beau Flynn and Vanderbilt.

German state subsidy body NRW Filmstifftung has put up just over $1 million (€800,000) in production financing for Murder Mystery. Cologne-based production house Action Concept has come on board as a co-producer and the film will shoot an expected 25 days in the NRW region in Western Germany.

Egoli Tossell Film New and Belgium group uMedia are also credited co-producers. uMedia’s sales arm uFilm is handling world sales on the project and will be offering the film to buyer in Cannes.

InStyle – Emily Blunt is decked out in metallic Burberry Prorsum as InStyle’s May cover girl! The no-nonsense star lives up to her name in our new exclusive interview, as she gives us her unfiltered thoughts on her style, her husband, and what she really thinks of acting in Hollywood. “I see Hollywood as a bubble that you pop your head into every now and again,” she told us. “I never get fully immersed in it.” But when she does—she goes full tilt. Up next, you’ll see her alongside Colin Firth in the bittersweet odd-couple movie Arthur Newman (out April 26) and her first action flick, co-starring Tom Cruise of all people, All You Need Is Kill (out March 2014). In the meantime, she has another co-star, her real-life partner, husband John Krasinski. “Meeting John really changed my life,” she said. “When I feel the support that I have from him, I feel invincible. There’s someone behind you on your good days, and someone in front of you on your bad days.” And that’s not all—be sure to get the full interview and see more photographs when the new May issue hits newsstands—or download it to your iPad, Nook, or Droid tablet—starting this Friday, April 19.

Emily eyes Diana role?

The Daily Mail is reporting that Emily is interested in Stephen Evans’ adaption of “Closely Guarded Secret”.

Actress Emily Blunt has been looking at a script based on the memoirs of Diana’s former bodyguard, Ken Wharfe, Closely Guarded Secret. And, say insiders, she likes what she has seen.

Emily, best known for The Devil Wears Prada, won bouquets for her title role in The Young Victoria, on which Sarah, Duchess of York was a producer.

Intriguingly, Emily is understood to have turned down the role of Diana when she was offered it for Caught In Flight, the film about the princess’s love affair with London heart surgeon Hasnat Khan and which now stars Watts. The Wharfe film is being developed by The Madness Of King George producer Stephen Evans.

Ewan McGregor has been widely tipped to play the burly policeman with a script that its makers promise will bring the ‘authentic Diana’ to the big screen, based on the memories of the people who were around her.

‘I know Emily has read the script and she has said she likes it,’ a member of the production tells me.

Emily in “Your Voice In My Head”?

Looks like Emily has another project after “All You Need is Kill”.

A movie adaptation of Emma Forrest’s memoir “Your Voice In My Head” has been in the works for quite some time now. David Yates signed on to direct the film back in December of 2011 with Emma Watson and Stanley Tucci taking the lead roles soon after. But scheduling conflicts caused David Yates to drop out of the project last spring and with Yates out of the picture, looks like Emma Watson is on her way out too.

Stanley Tucci confirmed to Digital Spy that Emma Watson is no longer attached to the film with Emily Blunt having since replaced her. Plans for “Your Voice In My Head” to begin production later this spring remains to be seen as they are still searching for a director to helm the project. “Your Voice In My Head” is a candid tale about screenwriter Emma Forrest’s battle with self-destructive behavior and her life was subsequently saved thanks to sessions with a compassionate therapist (Tucci). Emily Blunt taking over for Emma Watson will give the film a different feel, but she’s undoubtedly a worthy replacement, in what sounds like promising material.

The Avengers sequel will reportedly feature the character Ms. Marvel, with Emily Blunt and Ruth Wilson currently competing for the role.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Emily Blunt and Ruth Wilson are in contention for the role of Ms. Marvel in Avengers 2 and that the role is being sought after by Hollywood’s hottest actresses. Emily Blunt can been seen in the hit thriller Looper with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis, while Ruth Wilson will be starring in The Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, and Helena Bonham Carter. Blunt obviously has more film titles to her name, which gives her an edge, and considering Looper is hitting it big with both the box office and critics, it may be just what she needs to edge out the competition.
