THR is reporting that Warner Bros has set up 3 premiere for “Edge of Tomorrow“, and all on the same day (May 28)!
The stars of Edge of Tomorrow will race against the clock on an ambitious premiere world tour that will take them to three cities — in one day.
On May 28, Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt and director Doug Liman will attend launch events for the Warner Bros. film in three different countries, starting with the London premiere at 7 a.m., celebrating in Paris at 2 p.m. and capping off the festivities in New York City at 10 p.m.
In the film, Cruise plays Major William Cage, an officer with no combat experience who is sent into an essential suicide mission against alien invaders. He is killed within minutes, and is subsequently thrown into a time loop where he must repeatedly relive the same day — continuing to fight until he gets it right, a la Groundhog Day.
The globetrotting plans roughly reflect the plot of the film, which begins as Major Cage is deployed, alongside Blunt’s character, from London to France to war against the aliens.
The final screening of the day, which takes place in New York, begins at 11:59 p.m. — right on the “edge of tomorrow.”
While traveling between their premieres, Cruise, Blunt and Liman will interact with fans via social media. In addition, each of the three events will be covered live on social media with the hashtag #EOTLive.
The film’s international cast includes Bill Paxton, Brendan Gleeson, Noah Taylor, Kick Gurry, Dragomir Mrsic, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong, Franz Drameh, Masayoshi Haneda and Tony Way.
The screenplay — written by Christopher McQuarrie, Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth — is adapted from All You Need Is Kill, a novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka.
Edge of Tomorrow hits U.S. theaters June 6.
